Two Lucasfilm Classics from when game documentation mattered.
Posted by Roman in Games, LucasfilmOnce upon a time, game publishers were not slimey, greedy, rip-off artists. When you purchased a game, you got an experience. With infocom, you got the feelies and lots of reading material. With Origin, you got a cloth map or an ankh and again lots of reading material. With these two WWII flight sims, you not only got some kickass games, you got a history lesson. Each game came with a 200 page manual that contained not only the instructions to play the games, but real photos from the era, historical accounts, and strategy. Compare this to the what you are getting in today’s gaming era for $50 (a cd and 5 page reference “manual”), and you get a sad sense of what younger gamers have lost out on..
Complete in the box with those juicy manuals of historical goodness, Their Finest Hour, and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe.
